Coach Everett's Biography:
Raised on the family farm in the sticks of Southeast Iowa, Coach Everett graduated from Wapello HS. While there he was a 4 year starter in football, who was captain both his Jr and Sr years. He was also named to the Des Moines Register All State team as an offensive lineman. A varsity heavyweight wrestler all four years, Coach Everett compiled a 109-33 record and made it to the state tournament his SR year. Coach Everett also made it to state in track in both the shot put and discus.
He then attended Monmouth College in Monmouth IL, one of the most respected liberal arts colleges in the Midwest. Monmouth is recognized nationally for its academics, athletics, and for its beautiful campus. While getting his teaching degree at Monmouth, Everett played four years on its football team. Becoming team captain his SR year, being named to the Midwest Conference Team, and helping the "Fighting Scots" win the Conference title and go to the college playoffs. Everett was also a thrower on the college track team.
After graduating from Monmouth, Everett made many stops along his coaching path, including coaching the O line at his alma mater, and O line coach at Manchester College, in Indiana. Everett was defensive coordinator for conference champion and playoff teams at Roseville HS in Illinois before taking his first head coaching job at Schleswig HS in Northwest, Iowa. After that stop, Everett was named head coach of Southeast Webster HS in North central Iowa, and lead that school to its first winning season in 25 years and a couple of playoff berths. From there Everett answered the call home to be close to his family and took the head coaching job at Columbus HS back in Southeast Iowa. Since being named the head coach at Griswold, the Tigers have seen unparalleled success. Regularly leading the state in rushing, and offensive stats. Griswold has enjoyed 6 winning seasons in a row at the varsity, JV, and FS levels, and made the State Playoffs the last two years. Coach Everett has coached football and track for over 20 years.Coach Everett and his family, wife Kristi and daughter Marquel reside in Griswold.
